Movie Excitement - Spring 2024
March is upon us, which means there’s an influx of good movies around the corner. Admittedly, this year has been off to a slow start, but I have faith it’ll get stronger as the year progresses.
2023 was quite a good year for movies, and if history demonstrates anything, there’s usually a slower year after a hot one in the industry.
Regardless, movie excitement is a big proponent for my happiness, and there are a few out or about to be out that I look forward to viewing. Here’s a quick general list of some current and coming soon releases:
Dune: Part Two
I haven’t been this excited about a Sci-Fi epic since Episode 7 came out in 2015. I really enjoyed Dune, and from what I gathered, Dune: Part Two is a step up in every way, and I couldn’t be more eager to view it on the big screen.
Perfect Days
I’m a big Wim Winders fan and Perfect Days is right up my alley. The film focuses on Hirayama, a man who diligently maintains public restrooms in Tokyo, embracing a life of simplicity and finding solace while some interactions prompt him to ponder his own existence.
Monkey Man
I’m sure the lazy way to describe Monkey Man is by comparing it to John Wick, but man did this trailer sell me. Directed and starring Dev Patel, a man launches a crusade of retribution against the corrupt authorities responsible for his mother's murder and the ongoing oppression of the underprivileged and marginalized. Sign me up for a great revenge flick!
Cabrini
I don’t know much about Cabrini outside of the critic buzz surrounding the film. From what I gathered online, the film centers on Italian immigrant Francesca Cabrini, who embarks on a mission to convince the resistant mayor to allocate housing and healthcare for hundreds of orphaned children.
